They say you can never forget your first love,
Over everything it is above,
You remember the first encounter,
The frequent meetings and the banter,

But has it ever happened
When you’ve been by another more gladdened,
When things have been more easy,
More fluid and breezy?

I agree my tryst with the first was steamy,
More colorful, vibrant and dreamy,
But the steam has fizzled,
It’s kind of quiet which once sizzled,

In the meanwhile there have been a few flings,
Pursuits which gave me wings,
They helped me thread new stories,
Weave and explore new territories,

But my staple diet is the easy one,
The fluid, comforting arms to which I run,
I pour my heart out to my love,
And with every word rise above
