We should learn a thing or two,
From these pretty beings of colourful hue,
They are here only for a day or two,
But spread happiness to all who come in their view,

I am particularly fond of them,
And try to surround myself with these precious gems,

They are frail, they are delicate,
You just cannot them abdicate,
They look at you with forlorn eyes,
And you get drawn to them like butterflies,

Look how selfless they are,
They are here only to spread joy near and far,
They add beauty to their surroundings,
And provide nectar to airborne beings,

This is the purpose of their lives,
To be of service while they survive,

Why cannot we be more like them?
Perhaps then we’ll be as beautiful as them
