The children hesitated at the reception doorway,
Instantly I was transported to our school grand stairway,

I saw the same mischief gleam in their eyes,
Just as in ours when we stood near the forbidden stairway,

Should we take the plunge and break the rule,
Should we tread the forbidden steps in our school,

And when we did how jubliant we felt,
The same can be seen as kids cross the off-limits belt,

What is it with breaking rules?
And it’s not restricted to only schools,
Even in life thereafter,
There’s a certain thrill in setting foot where you’re forbidden to enter
