You can hear the din of the crackers fizzle out,
The flowers on the front gate dry out,
The rangoli so craft fully designed is all smudged from the side,
The new silverware all put aside,

Diwali has come and gone away,
Along with it taken the cheer away,

The city wears a dreary look,
And it’s all because along with it the brightness the festival took,

Now a gloomy shroud covers the place,
Reminding us all of the ill effects of the cracker malaise
